Starts at the train station, easy to follow, gravel path that runs along the old canal towpath. We had a great day biking.

C&O Park is a treasure and magical place that starts in DC/Georgetown and runs over 185 miles to Cumberland. Where construction began in the 1830’s, but ultimately became a park & protected years after the railroads bankrupted the commercial enterprise. Along the way some of most spectacular and amazing places and nature to see. From the historic (Great Falls Tavern, Harpers Ferry, and Antietam) to the most majestic (Widewater, Great Falls, Violette’s Lock, “The Point”, Maryland Heights), and engineering marvel’s (Monocacy Aqueduct and Paw Paw Tunnel). But most treasured of all the, the many forest and river creatures (foxes, deer, Swallowtails, frogs, copperheads, eagles, hawks, owls, and so many more…)
