The Newburgh-Beacon Ferry is a ten-minute ride. It’s a weekday rush-hour service operated by NY Waterway with no weekend service. A ride costs $1.75 and seniors $1.00. It connects at Beacon with Metro-North trains to and from Grand Central.

Why has no one said that the ferry is shut down? Apparently the dock fell off during the winter time due to ice and the city has not repaired it at all. There is a shuttle bus but it doesn’t run at the original times of the ferry it seems. It’s a shame the city has not put any investment into fixing this.

As the mural shows, Newburgh’s ferry landing used to be much nicer. Nowadays it is a bit shady, and regular passersby are standoffish as if you’re just out to shank ‘em.

Beautiful views from a very clean and tidy boat. SO worth the trip. I just wish they ran more often and especially on the weekends !!
