Located in Palisades Interstate Park just north of the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee, Ross Dock Picnic Area is a beautiful waterfront park that juts into the Hudson River. It’s a popular spot for both locals and visitors who want to enjoy a day outdoors with a stunning view of the Manhattan skyline.

On nice weekends during the warm weather months, it is by far the busiest area in the park. This pristine, sprawling 1000s of acres has boat launching spots with well-maintained restrooms. River breezes are spiced by dozens of barbecues and the happy uproar of families at play; it often fills to capacity by noon.

A paved path along the river makes it easy to wander, jog, or push a stroller. More ambitious visitors can link up with longer trails toward the Palisades or up toward the bridge itself.

It feels like one’s far away from everything even though the city is right there where my partner, his family, and I stopped by, hoping to see the GWB fully lit, two towers with 600-watt LED bulbs, on the eve of America’s 250th birthday. We were anticipating to stay a bit longer, but an impending thunderstorm was approaching.

This is a quiet waterfront park with excellent amenities, including ample parking, a children's playground, and a barbecue area. Situated right next to the Washington Bridge, it offers a superb vantage point for photographing the bridge. The restrooms are very clean, and numerous events are held here throughout the year.

Definitely a favorite for a run. It’s exactly 5k round trip to the next picnic area and back. The views of the GWB and the skyline are great, and it feels like you’re far away from everything even though the city is right there. Good spot for a BBQ and free parking on Wednesdays.

Beautiful spot along the Hudson River with incredible views of the Manhattan skyline. Clean picnic area, plenty of space to relax, and a great place to spend time with family and friends. Easy access to the waterfront and one of the best scenic locations in the Palisades. Highly recommend visiting Ross Dock for a picnic, walk, or just to enjoy the view.

Just serene. Family friendly fun spot for everyone. Pets are welcome. Definitely a special spot to check out if you’re in the area.
