Great walking trail located 30-45 min away from the city for a breathtaking day trip getaway. This park offers grills, picnic tables, public (paid) pool and walking trails with good amount of parking. This park can get packed. I went closer to the end of the summer season, escaping the crowds and enjoyed the trails with minimal activity. Some parts were under construction. Spent many summers at the park as a kid, and can say 20+ years later it’s still enjoyable with amazing sunset views.

Nice walking path around lake but grass was not mowed therefore difficult to walk on. Playground and pool make it appealing for families with kids. Restrooms were decent.

Biked through on the way to Harriman. Lovely pair of swans that hang out near the shore. Well kept, with great public restrooms.

Had a great time at Rockland Pool — it wasn’t crowded, which made it super relaxing. Someone did throw up while we were there, but the staff responded immediately. They cleared everyone out and cleaned the area fast and thoroughly. Really impressed with how seriously they took safety and cleanliness. Will definitely come back!

I spent my Sunday at Rockland Lake State Park, and it was the perfect little escape from the busy city life. The best part is that it’s only about a 1.5-hour drive—close enough for a day trip, and even accessible by Uber if you don’t want to drive.

The park is such a great picnic spot with open green spaces and shaded areas to relax. There’s even a large swimming pool inside the park, which makes it extra family-friendly and fun during the warmer months.

What really stood out to me was the lake view. The water is peaceful and surrounded by lots of birds—swans, seagulls, and beautiful white geese wandering around the shore. It gave the whole place a very calming and refreshing vibe.

Another highlight is that the park has BBQ areas, so you can enjoy a cookout with friends or family while soaking in the natural surroundings. It feels like the perfect mix of nature, relaxation, and outdoor fun.

If you’re looking for a day trip getaway with nature, water views, and picnic vibes, Rockland Lake State Park is definitely worth visiting. I’d love to go back again!
