We have a nice pull through with no overhanging branches for the first time! We scraped getting through the main entry to the park. The feeling is more private than any other place with spaces this abundant. Lots of foliage gives a decent screen. The ground is packed hard and works well with the heavy duty power wheelchair. The bike path was a nice stroll with the power chair. At the waterfront (boat launch) area, the railing drops enough in one area to accommodate the wheelchair view height.
(Update-low branches on the way out of site)
Fill up your water and dump your tanks on the way in/out.
The paved roads are new/well maintained, no bumps or cracks, very smooth. This is a place I felt comfortable getting the 44 feet long, 13’1” high motor coach, into.

Beautiful park that is not crowded and clearly underutilized. I went kayaking in the Hudson river - a very nice paddle in this part of the river. As pictured, a well equipped boat ramp with plenty of room.
There were many unused camp sites. It has restroom facilities.
Entrance fee is just $6 on Sat. and Sun. - otherwise free.

Schodack Island State Park is a fantastic spot for camping and RV stays. Each site offers electricity but no direct water or sewer hookups — though there are multiple water stations around the park and a central dump station, making short stays easy if you plan ahead.
The RV sites are nicely spaced and surrounded by trees, giving you a sense of privacy and personal space. There’s access to the Hudson River, a boat dock, and a large park area by the water with parking — perfect for visitors not staying overnight but wanting to enjoy the river.
Fishing here is a highlight: my son caught several catfish and a big carp right from the shore. The surrounding nature is rich, with rabbits and even deer spotted during our stay. It’s a peaceful retreat, yet only about 15 minutes from the city, offering a true nature escape without being too remote. We were thoroughly impressed and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet outdoor getaway.

Was hoping for some river views, but was mostly blocked by woods. We walked the orange trail south two miles, cut across on a red trail and looped back on the yellow. Did about 5 miles total. Very beautiful but very buggy in July. Most of the picnic tables on the orange trail were not usable due to overgrowth.
