The FASNY Museum of Firefighting is wonderful museum dedicated to the history of firefighting in Hudson, NY. The museum exhibits firefighting equipment going back hundreds of years and it's the world largest firefighting museum! Many of the exhibits are hands on! You can even sit behind the wheel of a firetruck.
Most of the artifacts in the museum come from the state of NY. It's fascinating to see fire engines and trucks from the early 20th century and even steam powered fire engines from the 19th century. If you have have wondered why many firehouses have dalmatians as pets, you can find out why here. They even have a cart that carried leather buckets of water to fight fires. Some of the most touching and inspirational exhibits are about the heroic firefighters on September 11, 2001.
Altogether, there is a lot to see here. It is easy to spend a few hours to take it all in. Tickets can be purchased at the door and you can save money on them by paying in cash. There is a nice gift shop here as well. The staff was helpful and friendly. This a must see museum in the Hudson Valley!

Drove all the way here on a Saturday only to find the museum closed! Their sign says they’re open Wednesday through Sunday, closed Monday and Tuesday. If they closed for the tiny bit of snow, they didn’t bother updating their Google listing. Very unprofessional! Would not recommend.

Wow, a real trip without drugs ! A true spin in time through the fire fighters and machines that made us appreciative of dedicated men containing "catastrophic" terrible moments..
