Very well preserved historic ship. Charles was my tour guide, very friendly, knowledgeable and thorough with the tour. Truly recommend if you are in area. Engine tour is interesting. 👍👌😄

Just spent 2 hours touring the USS Slater. Absolutely the best tour of a Naval vessel ever! I’ve been on several.
The first hour was with Beth as a guide. The second with Van! They were both wonderfully engaging and informative!
The stories told were fascinating and added such a personal touch. The mechanics of the ship, from how the engines ran to the Gaussian effects on the magnetic fields of the ship to the steering and radios were also fascinating.
Just go! Take the two hour tour. Listen to the stories and information. It’s well worth the price.

Visited as a fisherman and just got to see her from our boat, but the beautiful paint job and maintenance shows how much care has been taken to preserve this piece of history!

Great place to visit, very informative and tons of tourists options to meet your needs (physical/time/interest). Staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly enjoy their job. Riaf (sp?) was awesome!
Found this through a Google search of "things to do with kids in Albany" and was very happy that I did. Albany was the half-way point on a road trip from Boston for my 8YO son, 72YO dad, and me. Definitely recommend! Was right off the highway, 30min tour allowed us to stretch our legs but not be detoured too long for arriving at our final destination. There is free parking and also a picnic area to enjoy sitting and watching the river.

This has been something I've wanted to experience for a while. While I was not able to go aboard. I did really appreciate the staff they were very helpful and upfront with answering my questions about the accessibility of the ship. I could of gotten aboard with my wheelchair but I would not have been able to do much more than just that. The visitor center & gift shop are completely accessible. And they have a very nice observation deck with interpretive signage. I could fully see every part of the ship. I couldn't really get a good photo of the USS Slater in it's entirety. 🫡🇺🇸
