The Ten Broeck Museum is a wonderful historic mansion museum in Albany, NY. The mansion was built in 1797 by Abraham Ten Broeck and his wife Elizabeth Van Rensselaer. Ten Broeck was the first mayor of Albany and his wife was the only daughter of the powerful landowner/patroon Stephen Van Rensselaer. After Ten Broeck, the house was expanded by different owners and was donated as a museum in 1948. The mansion has several interesting rooms, nice views, and has a nice set of gardens.
The tour experience here is wonderful. The tour gives a nice personal history of the different owners of the house. A history of the people who worked as servants or slaves is also presented. The history of each room is presented in an interesting fashion. Altogether, the tour covers three floors of the house.
The Albany County Historical Association does a great job maintaining this historic site. Either before or after your tour be sure to check out the beautiful gardens that surround the mansion. It is best to book a tour online ahead of time. There is a free parking lot at the mansion. If in the Albany area put this on your list of places to see.

Passionate and hospitable museum guides made the house tour quite memorable, easy parking on premises. Mature trees around the house including dawn redwood, nice gardens in front of the house. It is good to couple this visit with Schuyler historical site in Albany.

A National Treasure in the Heart of Albany this Amazing landmark mansion is an absolute delight! The gardens are open year round offering a beautiful green space for the urban surround. Magnificent views during fall and winter. The Board members are above and beyond passionately committed to the mansion and their preservation of it. A worthwhile place to endow your support.

My favorite garden in Albany! Formal garden with a few small tables and a large lawn. The storms of June 2023 took out a huge tree and several large boughs. This is tragic but also reveals fantastic views.
