A wonderful place to visit, especially at Christmastime. Brilliantly decorated and well preserved. Our docent made the experience interesting, entertaining and fun. All her knowledge and enthusiasm was appreciated. The person handling reservations and the one in the gift shop were kind and welcoming. Visiting Sunnyside next door as well made the historical context of the two properties more interesting.

We visited Lyndhurst Mansion on a snowy winter day, and it honestly felt magical. Because of the weather, not all staff members were able to get in, but a special staff member stepped in to make sure the tours could still happen and that effort really meant a lot. You could feel how much care and dedication goes into this place.

The Christmas decorations were beautifully done: elegant, tasteful, and perfectly in harmony with the mansion’s historic interiors. They say “better than Macy’s” and I agree. Nothing felt overdone; instead, it added warmth and life to the house and made the experience even more special.

Outside, the snow transformed everything. The mansion, the grounds, and the Hudson views looked absolutely crystal-like, peaceful, and breathtaking. one of those rare moments when nature and architecture come together perfectly.

Inside, some of the furniture, paintings, and porcelain pieces are truly stunning. There were moments when you just wanted to stop and quietly admire the beauty and craftsmanship. Check the pictures with Tiffany clock, lamp and stained glass; Meissen porcelain, Steinway, specially crafted furniture, etc

This visit felt personal and memorable, not rushed or commercial. Huge appreciation to the staff for showing up and making it possible despite the weather. If you ever have the chance to visit Lyndhurst in winter, especially around the holidays…don’t miss it.
Will come back in the spring

We took the guided tour of Lyndhurst Mansion on Saturday 12/12/2025 and it was absolutely outstanding. The tour was incredibly detailed and allowed us to see everything up close—so many unique and fascinating details that you’d never notice on your own. The mansion itself is stunning, and the Christmas decorations made it even more magical.
This tour is truly a history buff’s dream and not to be missed. It would make a perfect Christmas gift for anyone who loves architecture, design, or history.
Our tour guide, Cathy, was charming and extremely knowledgeable, bringing the history to life in a way that was both fun and personal. We would absolutely go again.

It is a tranquil place by the Hudson River. We visited it after the big snow. It was so pure white and dreamy, very few people around. We enjoyed our time walking around, watching azure sky with white clouds, watching the snow flowing around with a gust of wind. Nature never failed me. It was always soothing.

Gorgeous mansion!!! Highly recommend it!!! Had an amazing time, the tour guide was such a sweet and knowledgeable lady! She answered all of my questions about the place, the history of it and the people who used to live there!! I took some amazing photos! The tour was about 1 hour and after it I walked for an other hour around the property. There is parking at the mansion, just follow the signs!
