Take advantage of the docents and ask them ANYTHING. They were so wonderful and friendly. Timed entry is great because the house's rooms and hallways can get cramped. The property was so beautiful in the snow! We wish we could have been given more information about the original home and barn.

Showed up and got tickets ten minutes before the next tour. They called ahead to make sure the tour didn't start without us. We got back into the car and drove up the hill to the house following the signs. Ended up at the gift shop perfectly on time.

Erin led out tour and was very knowledgeable. She answered any questions we asked about the art, statues, and books throughout the home. I was impressed with her knowledge and with the items within the house itself.

Overall the tour took 45 minutes and was quite enjoyable. I'd love to come back again for a tour of the grounds in the non winter season, as even the view from the house in winter was stunning!

Absolutely breathtaking! Couldn’t recommend this visit enough. We visited on a Sunday when they just opened, and it wasn’t busy at all. The staff are also so kind, helpful, informative and obviously passionate about Olana. The self-guided tour was perfect. They still have staff in every room, and they love answering all of the questions. Optimize your visit and take time to mosey the grounds and see the incredible view on Ridge Road!

This may be my favorite historic house tour I’ve taken in the US. The house has its original finishes and furnishings and is amazing in itself. The views are next level. Seeing something so complete and so particularly thought out that was created by an artist and reflects things he loved and places he went was special. If you’re in the area, go. The staff are also really fantastic. Totally exceeded expectations.

This is must see for anyone interested in the Hudson River School. The park is wonderful for hiking - I walked the trail by the lake from the visitor center to the mansion. The mansion was built by the American painter Frederic Church in the 1800s and is filled with original objects and some of his smaller paintings. Incredible views of the Hudson river from the house are added plus. Tour guide was very knowledgeable.
Add this to your bucket list.
