The Hudson River Maritime Museum has been a staple in the Hudson Valley since the 1980s. I have been fortunate to meet people who had a maritime history with Kingston; and those who shared their materials with me to endorse my one of a kind steamboat models that has been collected world-wide...The museum was instrumental in acquiring my services for building both a model and diorama of the Dutch sailing ship HALF MOON -both in the 1980s and in 2009.

Rondout Landing has a unique history. So much so that I was commissioned to build both sailing and steamboat models for a railroad diorama depicting its history at the turn of the century.
Again, a great museum.

I’ve walked and kayaked past the Hudson River Maritime Museum many times over the past 30 years. This was my first time visiting the Museum. My first impression was that it’s much larger than it looks from the outside. You could spend a few hours here reading and watching everything. They offer guided tours on Friday, Saturday & Sunday at 1:00pm. Adults: $10.00,
Seniors (62+): $7.00, Children (ages 6-18): $6.00

We parked across the street in the large public parking lot. We charged our EV while having dinner. EV charging is a nice perk of this area.

Came here with the grandchild. They were each given a treasure hunt paper to find all the items in the pictures. They really enjoyed all the boats and interesting stories about tranportation on the Hudson. Walked along the waterway afterwards.

This museum was spotless and the exhibits were so well done. It is definitely worth squeezing in, but be sure to check the schedule because their hours are somewhat limited. Great place in great history of voting in the early 1900s. Thank thank you for a very nice tour.

The Hudson River Maritime Museum displays a wonderful collection of maritime history in Kingston, NY. The maritime history it covers spans from the Native Americans to now. The museum is easy to find on the waterfront and also has cruises on a solar powered boat called Solaris.
The museum has many marine craft of all kinds ranging from canoes, fishing vessels, sloops, iceboats,, parts of steamships, and even a full tugboat directly outside the museum. There are excellent displays presented, as well as models of many ships that made voyages on the Hudson. The exhibits about life in a lighthouse are also very good. In all, every part of Hudson River history is well presented.
It is easy to spend over an hour here taking in all the different displays. The exhibit Hudson River iceboats may be the most interesting. Be sure to look around outside the museum as well, the tugboat must be seen. The museum’s gift shop offers many books about local history as well as museum merchandise. Most items in the giftshop are reasonably priced. If you want to go on the cruise you should book a ticket ahead of time. If just going to the museum it is easy to just walk in and buy a ticket. Definitely an overlooked museum and secret gem in Kingston.
