Fleet Week Parade of Ships--The 37th annual Fleet Week kicked off with a grand parade of ships along the Hudson River in mid-May, featuring vessels like the USS New York and USS Oak Hill. The event celebrates the U.S. Navy’s 250 years of maritime excellence. The event was held despite the crash of a Mexican Navy training ship into the nearby Brooklyn Bridge on May 18, killing two crew members and injuring 20 crew members. While the ship was in the city as part of a global goodwill tour, it was not officially part of Fleet Week. Read more.

Hudson Tunnel Project Milestone--A major milestone was reached in the Hudson Tunnel Project, which aims to improve rail infrastructure under the river between New York and New Jersey. The Hudson Yards Concrete Casing project is now over 50% complete. A key element of the project is a new, two-tube tunnel under the Hudson River and rehabilitating the existing 115-year-old tunnel, which is prone to chronic delays.Details.

Swim from Nyack to Sleepy Hollow--The Lighthouse Swim is a beautiful and challenging three-mile swim across the majestic Hudson River from Nyack, NY to the historic village of Sleepy Hollow, NY, scheduled for September 14, 2025. The goal is to give swimmers the opportunity to enjoy the panoramic views as they swim across the Hudson River while supporting Feeding Westchester and other local charities. More information
