Scenic short paddle. Beautiful birds, cool buildings. Convenient little launch. Water was choked with vegetation and got very shallow in unexpected places so be careful

Interesting place to canoe or kayak. It’s fairly easy to paddle upstream into Wappingers Falls. It’s interesting to see the old factory buildings that line the river. If you head toward the Hudson eventually go under the metro north railroad. There was plenty of space to go under the bridge at low tide. I’m not sure what it would be like at a high tide.

The launch is kind of steep & a little challenging getting in and out of your kayak. You can go in either direction, if you go right from the launch, it takes you past an old bleachery & textile mill, now an industrial park. The other direction takes you down to the Hudson River, a longer paddle. Saw lots of Carp splashing around the shallow water & Heron nests up in the trees. Nice place to paddle, in the summer parts get choked up with Water Chestnuts, but once in the channel and deeper water, it's clear.

kayak trip exceeded my expectations. neat old factories and waterfall view were up the creek and pretty scenery in other direction toward the hudson. the water chestnut was not as bad i had read. the best part was that no one was there. highlighy recommended.

Don’t go near the route 9 over path we got attacked by a bunch of fish surrounding the kayak splashing and moving swiftly, we even felt one bang into the boat
