East bound lanes have speed limit of 30 mph, while drivers in the west bound lanes are already speeding up to 55 mph. This is one of the factors to the crashes on this bridge.
The factor is there is no divider in the middle of the bridge. So if someone in the west bound lane hits someone in the east bound lane head on, it most likely going to be a very bad accident.
In all honesty if you can avoid this bridge, do so. Find an alternative route.

I use to walk over the bridge with my mom almost every weekend, we look over the railing and watch the ships and boats and canoes go by. It was fun. Sometimes all the traffic would shake the bridge. Save this bridge please.

The fact that has no middle divider makes it a bit scary and how it bottle necks on the Troy side during rush hour times is stressfull too. How many injuries/deaths will it take till it gets updated?
