The little side rest stop on Rt 5S in Herkimer is a nice stop. There is a bike/walking path that runs through it, and it next to, or on The Mohawk River. I have on occasion taken a nap there at night driving through and it's quiet. I should point out there is no bathroom or amenities. I believe there are grills outside to picnic with as well.

Mohawk River is magnificent especially considering the beautiful valley it runs through. The time was visited, it was golden hour. The light was fantastic. Magical.

Lived in the area for 52 years...Its a Beautiful place... Historic plenty of sites to take in.
