Hazard’s Ramp
Boat Ramp

Hazard's Ramp is a boat launch located in Fort Lee, NJ on the Hudson River directly under the George Washington Bridge. It is part of the Ross Dock Picnic Area which is a large scenic riverfront picnic area just north of the George Washington Bridge. The boat launch provides access for both trailered boats under 24 feet and car-top boats (canoes and kayaks) at Hazard's Ramp. First opened in the summer of 1961, and still used by hundreds of boaters, jet-skiers, and paddlers each year, the site takes its curious name from the Hazard Powder Company, a Connecticut explosives manufactory founded by Colonel Augustus George Hazard, which in the 1890s operated a dock for the delivery and storage of high explosives for the massive Carpenter Brothers’ quarry just upriver.
