Riding bikes on this C&D Canal trail is absolutely outstanding and fun! We were surprised that so few people had rode on this bike trail/exercising path on a cool day in March 2026. It is so flat and lengthy, although the water in the canal is certainly not among the prettiest in the world, but people could understand its purposeful functions that it had served long ago as well as now. The bike path is divided and painted a median line so it is for bidirectional travel, and it is very flat, and even more flat as most of the 'rail trails' (made on or next to the former rail road tracks) or on some other 'canal trails' that I and my son had visited in the last few years, and some were found in central and western parts of Maryland.

Great local trail system for dual sport and adv motorcycles alike. Very easy going so it makes for a relaxing ride on a nice day.
