This is a beautiful park with monuments detailing Fort Mercer history. Lots of shade and benches. Nicely paved paths for striking. There’s a promenade near the river. It’s lovely, with a cool breeze and shady trees. When we were there, Roan University was holding an archeological dig. They were happy to tell us what they were doing, and one could even join in and help them dig.

Fort Mercer was a key Revolutionary fortification constructed under direction of Tadeusz Kosciuszko as earthen fort in attempt to block British forces at Philadelphia along with the symmetric earthen fort Mifflin across Delaware River. These forts were guarding the underwater obstacles chevaux-de-frise preventing British ships from sailing upriver to the city with resupplies. This fact explains importance of forceful fort construction despite objections of lawful property owners. Beautiful park and river views.

Lovely place to visit very restful sitting by the water. Nice place to walk and exercise very historical. House museum butterfly hut adjoining park for kids and picnicking. Also, you can watch the planes comming in and flying out.

Really enjoyed my experience at Fort Mercer. I learned a lot, and there is great tributes and information. I was expecting just a few markers, but there is great things to see with great views of the Deleware. I'd definitely recommend coming to visit Fort Mercer.

Also called Red Bank Battlefield Park. Large open areas and breathtaking views of the Delaware river. Walking paths and plenty of benches. There is a playground in one corner of the park too!
