The gateway bridge from New Jersey to Philadelphia center city. A multi-year renovation of the steel structure of the span was completed a couple years ago. In addition to a complete repainting, a much more notable update has been the addition of new modern multi-color lighting. It is complementary to Boathouse Row lighting that is visible from the Schuykill Expressway. A pedestrian and bike path on the south side of the bridge is an easy way to go between Philadelphia and the Camden waterfront. A ramp was added to the The New Jersey side of the bridge that replaced stairs - a welcome update for bicyclists. Access to the walking path on the Philadelphia side is not particularly friendly, but does suffice. There are several spots to move off of the path and take in beautiful views of the Delaware River and Philadelphia skyline. A good walk on a warm day.

Super stoked! I rode a bike share bicycle across the bridge in March 2026! The experience was incredible! Super foggy with very few pedestrians. The views were epic! The Indego bike share system is simply the BEST!

Great pedestrian bridge to get from PA to NJ, exercise or to get some nice views of the river or skyline. As of late September, only the south section of the bridge allows for foot and bike traffic between 6am and 8pm. If trying to get here from the Frankfort line, get off at 5th street station and walk North past the U.S. mint until you reach the start of the bridge.

I had a wonderful time walking this bridge from Camden to PA. So far, I only did halfway but I’m going to keep trying lol. Beautiful scenery, quiet and great exercise.
