Great, quiet place, awesome for walking, biking, ok maybe for fishing. Got a near by bar or restaurant with outdoor seating so overall pleanty to see and do for 2-3 hours! Also not to mention dozen+ plus retired warships and no entrance fee!
Btw you have two busses going down here (Center City Express) and around (Navy Yard Local)... look the up on the Septa map.

Lots of history here, great place to walk or drive around, look at passing ships, or do some exploring. Come see the ex USS John F. Kennedy CV67 while she is still here!!
There is also a DEERS office here too which is an added bonus

Not your average tourist spot. But a unique break from all the other spots in the city.
The original Navy Yard was used for holding US Navy ships that were `mothballed', to be sold to other navies or scrapped. There are still several ships in the main basin waiting on their fate. The rest of the facility has been completely repurposed - new offices, a few restaurants, even a hotel. You can drive or walk to many of the piers to see the different ships on site. There are also a few small parks as well as a riverfront walk.
NOTE: You cannot board ANY of the ships in dock. This is a working facility - look, but don't touch.
Added bonus - At the time of our visit (late December 2023), the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy is tied up and being scrapped. And you can get pretty close to it. Very big.
Just a pleasant diversion for a brief visit.

Love being here. I am from New Jersey and I pack a lunch every time I visit one on the Jefferson’s doctors. I always get good care and a professional diagnosis and a good conversation about what is needed.

Just outside the city of Philadelphia on the south side you can drive around and snap some photos of historic stationed naval vessels. They range from massive to small and you get a look at some of the facilities where they are repaired as well.
