Fabulous suspension bridge built by Mr. Roebling & company. Decorative motifs all throughout the bridge. Great spot on the river with two fantastic old school restaurants as "book ends" to the bridge, NJ and PA sides. A daring young man once flew a single engine plane under this bridge. Definitely worth coming to see.

Beautiful suspension bridge built by Mr. Roebling & company, of Brooklyn Bridge fame. Decorative motifs abound. Structural details are fascinating. Great spot on the river with two fantastic old school restaurants as "book ends" to the bridge, NJ and PA sides. A daring young man once flew a single engine plane under this bridge. Settled into his ground effect over the river and shot through. A very large set of brass ones on that boy. Paid dearly legally, I believe. FAA and a few other agencies were not very thrilled with his stunt. But wow. Be sure to stop in at the Reigelsville Inn or Hootz for a great bite to eat.

I really like this bridge. Mostly because it connects the civilized main land to the Island of New Jersey. Upon crossing the bridge into NJ, you will be at Hoots, THE Legendary Bar that it is. As of 2022, it has risen like the Phoenix into a new creation of beauty and elegance like it has never known. It no longer smells of cigarettes and leather, but has the sweet aroma of fine beer and simmering Pork Roll. So, celebrate this bridge, and use it wisely.
Maybe fold your mirrors in for oncoming cars.

Traveling in a 24ft camper I was stopped by a river troll forbidding me to cross the Delaware. Too wide he said. Thus began an adventure after I turned around to take the river rd to the milord crossing. Don't. single lane 4 miles no turn outs. Good backing up practice though. Needs signage so we pulling campers can find alternate route.

Never biked in this area. Ended up on the bridge, realizing I should not be on the bike on the bridge; I stopped and tried to get my bike into the sidewalk to walk it.
The bridge troll ran up at me yelling “There’s always one!”
I responded that I had never been in the area before. He responded ”Can’t you read English?”
I said “Yes I can. Can you point out a sign to me that says to walk my bike.”
He couldn’t.
Bridge troll.
View was nice tho.
