This is a nice area to launch your boat, kayak or go tubing. The water here is very still and has little flow so if you are tubing, you need a kayak or boat to push you to get moving. Once down the river, the water starts flowing. The water in the summer is warm and clear. Some areas are very shallow while others are deep. It is 8.2 miles to Kittaniny visitor center and approx 5 miles to Worthington state park where there is a launch area for NJ side. We drive 2 cars and leave one at the point where we will be getting off. It takes a few hours to go down the river and great for families.

One of our favorite places to see local wildlife. We’ve seen beaver, fish, frogs, deer, bear and bald eagles around this area. (Bald eagle photo and sunset photo attached)

Didn’t launch a boat here but stopped on a road trip. Breathtaking views. Peaceful place to watch wildlife.

Can't beat sunrise and sunset, bald eagles and the occasional swimming black bear! I love this spot!

I did not launch a boat here , but if I were to, I would think 4 wheel drive may be necessary . The way down and the ramp itself has a steep grade. There's a restroom! The Old Mine road can be rough for little cars(mine) so be wary. I saw many animals in less than 20 hours. Bear and cub, deer, porcupine, squirrels, chipmunk, I heard many creatures at night. I thought I heard wolf like barks and howls.... Have fun it's beautiful here!
