Third bridge here. Far too much history to list, but well worth the search on your own. First span built in 1870 was a wire rope suspension affair known locally as Deckers Bridge. Storm floods of 1903 took that old girl out. Next span was a two span Through Truss that lasted until 2018 when she was replaced with the current two span Through Truss.

This place brings back a ton of memories for me. I lived directly across Route 97 from it. You could see our garage from the bridge. This is not the original bridge, the original had upper steel and wooden floor. Family tied rope to the old bridge to swing and jump from.

The bridge over the Delaware is absolutely beautiful! It's like a picture postcard!
