Let me start by saying this is coming from a pedestrian point of view. This is one of the unique bridge crossings in which pedestrian have it much easier than any car. Watching cars start and stop, driving extra carefully so as not to hit an oncoming car is a sight to behold from the bridge on two feet. Be sure to look down whilst walking across to see the turtles sunbathing. If crossing to the NJ side, a walking/biking trail allows for continued exercise on a quiet, well maintained path.

The location of one of the most historically significant events of the American Revolution this bridge is one of my favorite ways of crossing the Delaware River. Warning ‼️ The bridge is very narrow and some side mirror bumping should be expected.

The environment is beautiful, but as others have mentioned, the bridge is extremely narrow. Even with just two regular cars, you need to use extra caution. I can’t imagine two pickup trucks passing at the same time! Make sure you’re comfortable using your mirrors to gauge the space before driving onto the bridge—otherwise, you could get stuck.

Hate this bridge.

People who are giving this 5 stars… grow up. Stop talking about walking on it and looking at it. It’s 2026. We drive. If you want to cross it that badly without a car, pull a George Washington and get in the water. I don’t know someone who hasn’t hit a mirror or scraped a side on this thing.

Seriously, I don’t think this bridge has widened since 1776. All the more fun, GOOGLE MAPS likes to route travelers through this when it is completely not necessary and when it also adds 2-5 minutes more on the drive. What are we doing here?

Google, do better. Help us for once. There’s got to be something more to this godforsaken bridge if it’s still here. What are you hiding Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. What are you hiding Google? And most importantly, what are you hiding George Washington?

Love to hike the PA/NJ Delaware River Loop from Lower Makefield/Scudder Falls Bridge to Washington Crossing Bridge and enjoy the views from the bridges. But a lot of people are scared to drive pass the narrow bridge. Many drivers have to flip down the rear mirrors when driving across the bridge.
