Our 1st day hike got canceled when we got there. Trail is all iced over. We drove to another access point at Bulls Island state park. The trial was frozen 🥶 there too. So we crossed over to PA, walked around a bit. Have biked here in the summer. Great state park. Bathrooms were even open today and heated. Got to check it out this summer.

This is a place I should have checked out years ago. The area is very pretty. It is very well maintained. There are lots of parking areas, I would imagine it fills up in the summer. Lots of trails to take that lead to all different areas. There's an amazing pedestrian bridge that goes over to PA where the Black Bass Hotel is. Really amazing.

Great public area Jersey side connected to PA via footbridge. Bring your fishing rods and bikes! Have been coming here for years wide open parking, services possibly camping boat ramp nearby. Wing dam photo and random recent sky show

This is a good place to access the river and there's a cool pedestrian bridge across. Restrooms available, parking, playground. We took a hike on the Pennsylvania canal trail. Great weather! EMS was practicing water rescue which was cool to watch.

05/05/2022: Now with everything almost back to normal, this area is set up with washing station for picnic and more portable toilets for visitors. It is perfect for family outdoor picnics and hikes.

Update 05/28/2021:

After my first visit at Bull’s Island, I came back several times with family and/or friends for hikes and once picnic. Really loved this park with the footbridge.

And one day afternoon after my PA/NJ Delaware River Loop hike, I noticed the picnic area was in shade, which would be perfect for picnicking in summer. Strongly recommend for family and friends to hang out here any time.

Or, if you want to sit by the river to indulge yourselves in some good food and nice view, the Black Bass Hotel is a very nice restaurant right by the river across the footbridge in PA side. But make sure you reserve your table in advance as when we stopped by and wanted to dine there, turned out to be full.

It’s the parking spot I chose for the #7 section of my Hiking-thru-D&R-Canal-Trail from Bull’s Island to/from Bridge Street, Stockton. After I finished my hiking in such a sunny day, I told myself why not take a walk in the park and see what’s over there. So I crossed the canal bridge, saw an park office building with a bigger parking lot. There’s a playground behind the building and many picnic tables by the river. There’s a boat launch by the canal with picnic area too. I am sure it is a very nice recreation area in summer.

To my surprise, there’s a pretty pedestrian bridge right across the river to Lumberville, PA. So I took a walk thru the bridge high across Delaware River. The river views are definitely gorgeous! Don’t miss a walk on the bridge if you plan for a trip to Bull’s Island area.
