**EDIT, UPDATE at end** A stunning, albeit somewhat delicate, truss bridge. Decorated with finials atop the cross beam corners. Has been down for maintenance for quite some time, unfortunately. Not even foot traffic allowed. Truly a shame. I hope she gets the funding and attention she desperately needs. One of my favorite steel bridges in the Delaware region.
**UPDATE** 27 March 2025. Shame! Are you kidding me, PennDOT?! Yet another historically significant and painfully gorgeous bridge falls to the damned hammer. The original plan was to carefully dismantle her and restore and relocate her when and where assets and location were available. Now I'm reading that it's just a straight scrapping. I'm getting sick to my stomach typing this. My love and respect go to the 86 year old superstar who didn't want to see her beloved bridge torn down after gazing at it from the windows of her home, the equally historic Skinner House, for the last 25 years. She placed herself in harms way for the love of her bridge, standing beyond the barricades and yellow tape while demo crews worked along and under the span. She did this daily until she was arrested. I am well aware of safety inspections and standards that any bridge needs to meet, but there had to have been a way to save this bridge and spare an old woman's heart and protest, along with all of ours.

Iron spans the river,
Echoes of Skinner's ferry,
PennDOT's final blow.

Amazing historical landmark. Beautiful bridge that fits the area very nicely. Even while the bridge is closed it adds an element of eloquence to it's surroundings. I hope the bridge remains and our children's children have the opportunity to have their breath taken by this small glimpse into history.

As seen in the two adult movies I made there in Milanville, The Devil in Miss Jones and Memories Within Miss Aggie. It hasn't changed much. A beautiful place in the heart of the country. An apple-packing plant nearby where the indoors action was filmed burned down in the late 1970's. So come see the area and bring the kids.
