Great find for us while camping at Dingmans Ferry. We were immediately seated on our Saturday evening visit at a great table overlooking the meadow. Service was quick but our meal was a little slow in arriving but honestly didn't mind with the view. I had the Teriyaki chicken and my wife had the Teriyaki steak. Both were very good, but the chicken was better with the veggies and plenty of Teriyaki sauce. The old school salad bar was also a nice addition as you don't see that much anymore. Beautiful interior and a great view would definitely had us stop back if we find ourselves in that middle of nowhere spot again!

If you haven't made the trip out to the Walpack Inn in Wallpack Center, NJ, you're missing out on one of the most unique dining experiences in the state. Tucked away in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, this charming, rustic restaurant is absolutely worth the scenic drive.
The views alone would make it worth the visit. The Greenhouse dining room looks out over the Kittatinny Mountain Range, and with deer wandering right up to the property, it feels like dining inside a nature painting. There's a reason they say "We feed the deer and people too!"
And speaking of feeding people — the food is fantastic. Everything felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared, from the hearty entrées to the warm, homemade brown bread that arrives at your table. But the real standout for me was the salad bar. Loaded with farm-fresh vegetables and a great variety of options, it was crisp, generous, and the perfect way to start the meal.
Whether you're a local looking for a special night out or a visitor exploring Sussex County, the Walpack Inn delivers on every front from atmosphere, food, and that one-of-a-kind setting that's been drawing guests since 1949. I'll definitely be back!

Surf and Turf for 2 was outrageous in all the best ways. Service and locals were amazing. I forgot my hat they had closed for the evening but the kindness of strangers was able to get my hat back.
Watch out for deers if you stay late!

Very well run hostess seating. Three people taking people in. I liked that as there was no wait. Place looks cool with old wood beams. My wife had the fillet mignon special cooked med rare and I had the Teriyaki Ribeye cooked medium. It was a 90 min drive for us on a beautiful sunny day which is something we wanted to do. The place is old school in that it reminds me of restaurants in the 1970s and 1980s in a good way and with a basic salad bar. The food menu is updated of course and it’s good. We really liked it. It’s not what I would call elegant or unique food or modern farm to table style. It is just really nice food, nice family atmosphere and a positive experience. The service we had was great. Friendly and quick. Drinks were good. Apply crumb pie was great. Prices are not cheap but they seemed very similar to most other places these days. We saw a bear through the window too. Cool. We will go back.

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Sussex County!
The Walpack Inn is an absolute treasure—one of those rare places where time slows down and you’re reminded of how special a great meal and a beautiful setting can be. From the moment you arrive, the rustic charm and peaceful surroundings set the tone for a truly memorable dining experience.
The food is consistently excellent. Every dish we’ve had—whether it’s the perfectly cooked prime rib, the fresh seafood, or the hearty soups—has been full of flavor and generously portioned. The salad bar is legendary and truly one of the best around: fresh, diverse, and thoughtfully maintained.
What really makes The Walpack Inn stand out is the atmosphere. The glass-enclosed dining room offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside and often deer can be seen grazing nearby. It’s peaceful, cozy, and somehow manages to feel both upscale and welcoming.
The staff is warm, attentive, and genuinely care that you enjoy your time there. They go above and beyond to make you feel like a guest, not just a customer.
Whether you’re celebrating something special or just looking to unwind and enjoy great food in a beautiful location, The Walpack Inn delivers every single time. A true New Jersey classic!
