This is not a bike trail, the bridge just gets you to the other side of the river. A hill going up and a hill coming back. Difficult to ride if you are with children; walking would probably be better. They haven’t cut the grass in a while so the grass weeds have taken over. Posted picture below. If the state spends this much money putting this together, they really should maintain the pathways. I wouldn’t walk alone from the Wethersfield side although we did see a police officer parked in his car. Again good for walking across not a bike trail to narrow.

Wonderful infrastructure ! Thank you to all the advocates who, for decades, pushed for the construction of this essential link. I love riding from Wethersfield to the boat house in Glastonbury and enjoy the sunset.

A little neauseating to look down when walking across the bridge. But it is beautiful, well built, and I will absolutely return for a calm walk over the bridge.

This trail offers a moderate workout. The pro is it is never isolated so safety for a woman alone isn’t an issue. The con is the traffic is whizzing by with a shoulder-high jersey barrier between the walker and cars for part of the way.

Walk into Old Wethersfield and treat yourself to a yummy ice cream treat at The Creamery before heading back to Glastonbury. Overall I would recommend the entire experience.

A Convenient Trail, But Lacks Tranquillity; The Putnam Bridge multi-trail connecting Glastonbury to Wethersfield is a nice addition for those looking to walk or bike between the two towns. However, I can't help but feel it falls a bit short in terms of offering a truly serene experience. Being right alongside the highway, the noise detracts from the tranquility you'd hope for on a trail like this. Additionally, once you cross into Wethersfield, there's not much to explore on the other side. For a more peaceful and scenic ride, I recommend the bike trail off House Street in Glastonbury, where you can ride for hours without the constant hum of traffic. Nonetheless, it's a decent trail if you're looking for a quick and convenient route between these two towns.

Warmly,
