It's a nice big boat landing. Great if you have a boat and are going out on the Connecticut River. Porto-potties are a plus. A lot of people park and fish from the grassy areas. I wouldn't recommend this spot for swimming or kayaking, however. The Connecticut River is choppy and there are a lot of loud/smelly boats which makes it less than peaceful. We paddled around the mouth of the side river (Black River) and the back pond area a bit. Lots of tall grasses, cat tails, and vegetation. Felt a bit like being on the bayou! The water was pretty murky and there were a lot of people fishing so we had to be careful not to disturb their lines. The lily pads are pretty overgrown (August 5) so it left us having to dodge them. Lots of little bugs on the lily pads that tried crawling up the sides of the kayaks so we had to rock back and forth to knock them off. We saw a few birds, some minnows, a turtle, dragonflies, and signs of beavers.

It’s nice if you have a big boat, otherwise fishing from shore isn’t fun, lots of boats making big waves, and being reckless. And having no respect for anyone. Just like these people in the photo they kept racing by were I was fishing.

A beautiful place to look out at the water, it's nice and quiet too! I would recommend coming here!

Very nice launch where the Black River meets the Connecticut, just off the highway. Lots of parking, picnic tables. Nice place to simply pull off for a picnic.
