Beautiful trails! I did not enjoy driving up the steep one lane path… Also, there were so many ticks. But the park itself was beautiful!

The water in kilburn pond was clear and warm, the perfect thing after an invigorating hike!

Beautiful state park with easy and well labeled trails. Variety of trails throughout park. Parked truck and trailer on Old Chesterfield road at the Ranger station. Traveled throughout the bottom of the park on ATV with several stops for about 3 hours. Wish i had more time to travel the northern park if possible.
Nice parking lot is available on Rt 119 on the south of the park.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the unexpected closures. Old Chesterfield Rd was closed for the “winter” on April 25th! After a one-hour drive, we were met with unexpected outcomes, as Google had indicated that the trail was open for the season. It felt that the park was either neglected or forgotten. The gate was locked, and the department was closed on the weekend. There were no clear directions or indications that other trails were open, so we had to search for ourselves. Eventually, we found an open trail after 30 minutes, and the hike did turn out enjoyable.

I hiked the Kilburn Loop Trail, total distance in and out is approximately 7 miles. I would consider this trail moderately difficult. It has been a while for me so it made it slightly more difficult. Be prepared with insect repellent and water. Its a pet friendly park and although the parking lit was full, I didnt see anyone while on the trail.
