Undeveloped State Park on the CT River. There is no real trails in the island but it is clear enough to walk through. Perfect for kayaking around the island. Only accessible by boat.
On my quest to visit all the CT state parks in a year I had difficulty accessing this park with my kayak. It’s pretty far from any state park launches and the Pratt and Whitney facility on the Western side made it difficult to get to. I ended up finding Oakum Dock Preserve on the eastern side of the river at the end of Oakum Dock Rd, which was perfect for launching a kayak or canoe.
