Wonderful place to visit , creative interesting house of a Sherlock Holmes actor !
if you want to take the self guided tour of the house arrive early since they only allow a limited number of ppl at at a time . So those slots fill up fast on busy weekends ! This is if you are purchasing the tickets at the park itself . You can purchase them beforehand on their website too.
If you have a library pass you'll get a heavy discount on tickets.
All the staff are very polite, helpful and kind and informative.
Also there are multiple trails and picnic areas to spend time in . It's a great place for a day out .

This place is gorgeous and you can basically drive right up to it. We went in the winter so there was plenty of parking spaces and it appears to have plows because the lot was super clear of snow. The castle just puts you in awe, the view of the river was just beautiful and you can peek through some of the lower windows. Yours were not happening when we went but I would certainly go again, just to see the inside completely. Definitely worth a trip if you're in the area!

This was a great tour. The tickets are timed and they are strict about the start time as they go in the castle and shut the door. But once in the castle and past the first explanation, you do have more of a self-paced option. They have guides in rooms who will explain things to the whole group more in detail but provided quick explanations as we went ahead. I went with my 1 and 3 year old so we went a little ahead of group. The guides in each room gave us a quick explanation so we could see and move along but I heard the whole group getting really cool facts and details and had I been with a group of adults would've spent more time overall. You work your way up through the castle and exit out an upstairs entrance and to the back. They have walking paths that we also explored and a gift shop area. We packed a picnic lunch and sat at the picnic tables. The shop area had a restroom.

A beautiful place with a fascinating history. You can easily drive all the way to the destination, which makes it very convenient. The views are absolutely stunning, and the whole area is incredibly clean and peaceful. Definitely worth visiting if you want a calm experience surrounded by nature and history.

Incredible place to learn about history and feel some sense of magic. Love that it's free to park and only 6 dollars to tour the inside of the museum. This is a must if you are in the area!
