The North Bethesda Rotary Club and the Rock Creek Conservancy are again teaming up for a special event in May--a Bike Tour of Upper Rock Creek! This is the latest in as a series of bike "eco-tours" that will cover different sections of the creek.

The event is sponsored by the North Bethesda Rotary Club, which has organized bike rides in Rock Creek for the past several years. This year is focused on the section from Garrett Park (Viers Mill Local Park) upstream to Lake Needwood and back, a round-trip distance of about 13 miles. North Bethesda Rotary is supplying t-shirts for participants and a picnic lunch at the Viers Mill Recreation Center after the ride.

Join the North Bethesda Rotary Ride participants on May 18 at Viers Mill Local Park, where the tour begins at 9:30 am. Riders will stop at several locations along the route, where representatives from the Conservancy will help you learn more about this historic and natural treasure that runs through our community. The route is mostly car-free and includes stops at the new bike trail crossing at Viers Mill Road and Lake Needwood recreation area.

The fee for the event is $15 per rider, which includes the t-shirt and lunch. This is a "family friendly" event--kids under 12 ride for free.
