*20--Fairfax County Watershed Clean-up Day
Various watersheds throughtout Fairfax County, Va.
Be part of the stream team! Individuals, families, and groups can help clear out the earth's arteries by collecting tires, bed springs, bottles, cans, and other debris. Give the waterways in your community a clean bill of health and earn the gratitude of your furred, feathered, and scaled neighbors. Trash bags and appreciation provided. Sites will be coordinated by the following centers: Hidden Oaks Nature Center (703.941.1065), Hidden Pond Nature Center (703.451.9588), Huntley Meadows Park (703.768.2525), Riverbend Park (703.759.9018), Sully Historic Site (703.437.1794), Walney Visitor Center (703.631.0013).

*3--16th Annual Potomac Watershed Clean-up
Various locations throughtout the Potomac watershed..
Last year, 4,000 volunteers at 127 sites hauled away 122 tons of trash from the tributaries and shoreline of the Potomac. Come be a part of this major basin-wide clean-up effort. *April 17-May 2--50th Anniversary C&O Canal Through Hike

C&O Canal from Cumberland to Washington, D.C.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Justice William O. Douglas' through hike to save the canal from becoming a paved parkway. Join the group for the entire hike or just one day. The opening banquet will be April 17 in Cumberland, Md., to kick off the event. Camping will be available to the first 70 guests due to limited space. The historic town of Cumberland is the starting point for the 3rd annual Potomac River Sojourn. Throughout our trip, we will be traveling beside the famous C&O Canal. The Sojourn will help the National Park Service celebrate the canal's 150th anniversary.
