Potomac River Subway Tunnel
The Metro tunnel under the Potomac services the subway's Blue and Orange lines. Built in the 1970s, it connects the Foggy Bottom station in Washington, D.C. to the Rossylyn station in Virginia. The tunnel was bored through rock. Expansion of the subway system may mean an additional crossing of the Potomac.
